On Sunday 4th June, 13 students and 4 staff travelled to Manchester as representatives of the school to watch the testimonial match of former Burnside student Michael Carrick.

The Manchester United and England star had organised a match between a team of All Stars versus the Manchester United Champions League winning side of 2008. An entertaining match was watched by over 70,000 spectators with the home team coming from behind to draw 2-2 with Carrick himself scoring the equaliser.

Students thoroughly enjoyed the day and the excellent behaviour and conduct shown by all throughout was a credit to the school. Thanks must go to those staff who gave up their Sunday to supervise the trip. In particular Miss Peel who organised the day and Mr Wilson for entertaining flagging staff and students with his selection of classic 80s dance music on the return journey.
