Last night Burnside played their first round of fixtures in the North Tyneside U13 Basketball League @ Churchill. The team played four games against Churchill A, Churchill B, St Thomas More and Valley Gardens.
Burnside’s squad of Alex Baxter, Sonny Ho, Nathan Gray, Scott Barker, Alfie Freeth, Conor Purcell and Nurein Kizito had only two training sessions behind them, so began their first game a little under cooked but soon found their feet, beating Churchill B.
Burnside secured further close victories over Churchill A and St Thomas More before losing to an extremely well drilled and skilled Valley Gardens side.
The shooting and penetrating dribbles of Kizito and Baxter combined with the effective centre play of Gray meant Burnside were always a threat going forward. Good communication and leadership from Barker helped to organise the defense keeping the opponents shooting opportunities to a minimum. A great all round squad performance.The next round of fixtures is on Thursday 9th November.
Year 8 basketball club is ran on Tuesday lunchtime in the Sports Hall, new players are welcome.
