On the last Friday of term we welcomed acclaimed DJ MC Squared to the Burnside courtyard as part of our Funky Friday fundraiser. The Burnside Samba Band under the direction of our musical guru, Mr Thompson, and with the help of a very accomplished team of students, paraded with students and staff around the site. Also during the afternoon there was a huge chombola, hook a duck stall and penalty shoot out, among other stalls.

The event was supporting the Burnside School Fund and the Flushtastic Campaign for the Girls of Gorgor High School. At Gorgor students still use pit latrines (septic tank toilets) and the girls toilet collapsed. We are trying to raise enough funds to build a new toilet block for the girls and have held a number of events to support the campaign, including Grantastic bake sales and Icetastic lolly sales from a pop up stall. We are very grateful for the support we get from our whole community, and the students of Gorgor, Kenya are overwhelmed by the opportunities we offer to them. The Burnside School Fund supports our own students and provides opportunities that may not be available otherwise.

Thsnk you for supporting a very Funky Friday and have a great summer!
