I’m leading the 200 strong choir at the end, singing ‘Happy’.
The choirs involved are Wallsend Community Choir, Linskill Community Choir, Killingworth Community Choir, Killingworth Children’s Choir, Harmony, and a choir from Sage, Gateshead.
Two Burnside students sing in the Wallsend Community Choir – one is starting the entire ‘Happy’ flashmob, and the other is also part of the opening group.
It’s going to be broadcast live on BBC Look North from 6.30 pm, and then there should also be a feature on the One Show from 7.00pm.
In addition to the Choir event at the end, we have a former Burnside student; Tom Lapworth who was the second act to play. He said
“It’s been absolutely phenomenal, just seeing the variety of performers, it’s wonderful to see people pooling their resources. I’ve been learning the guitar since I was 10 and I’ve been learning ever since then.”
