We are very excited to welcome the new year 7 students to Burnside on Friday 03 September. Students should arrive onsite via the student entrance at Hadrian Leisure or the rear of the school site. Students will gather on the main yard from 8.35am and then line up in their tutor groups. Form tutors will be on the yard holding a form group sign. A large number of staff will be present to support students who are unsure where to go. We look forward to meeting you all soon.
Burnside College students continued the trend of high achievement in our outstanding sixth form this year and we are really proud of what all our students have accomplished. They have demonstrated great resilience in overcoming the many challenges that this academic year has presented.
Many of our students have chosen to stay in the local area studying at Durham University, Newcastle University and Northumbria University. We also have students who are moving away from home to study at Manchester University, York University, Leeds University and University College London.
We are delighted that some of our students have secured highly competitive places to study History and Psychology at University College London, Physics at Durham University and Pharmacy and Biology at Newcastle University.
We would like to wish them all well in their next chosen destinations and we look forward to hearing about their continued success in their future careers.
We are very proud of the achievement and successes of our Year 11 students who received their GCSE results this morning. It was fantastic to see so many students celebrating their results with staff and students. We look forward to welcoming many of our students back to our outstanding sixth form in September to continue their education with us and wish those moving on the best of luck for the future.
We are delighted to share our weekly bulletin for Friday 30th April 2021.

COVID Home TestingĀ
Following lateral testing in school students will start to bring testing kits home.Ā It is requested that students carry out two tests per week at home, 3-5 days apart, starting from the last test carried out in school.
Students will only be issued with a home testing kit once they have completed three tests in school.
In line with current Public Health and Government guidance, a positive test result received at home will require self-isolation.Ā A positive test result will also require a confirmatory PCR test which can be carried out at one of the local COVID testing centres.
Any student who has been vaccinated is still recommended to carry out home testing following their three tests in school.
Please note the leaflet inside the test kit should be ignored.Ā A separate A5 explanatory leaflet will be provided that gives detailed instructions of how to carry out the test and register the result with NHS Test and Trace.Ā Schools have also been asked to collect results.Ā Please inform school of the result of home testing using this App: https://covid.burnsidecollege.org.uk
If you have any queries or concerns please contact the school office.
