We are delighted to share our Weekly Bulletin for Friday 18th October 2019.
‘Wallsend Inspires’ is a free careers event for the whole family!
Saturday 26th October 10:30am – 1:30pm @ TyneMet College
Planned in collaboration with all Wallsend education providers and the North Tyneside Learning Trust World of Work Team, we are delighted to announce the first ever event of it’s kind this year!
We want to support people living in Wallsend and the surrounding area to make informed decisions about the next stage in their education, training or future career paths.
This will be particularly useful for students in Year 11 or sixth form but just as important for all members of the family!
No need to register for the event – just turn up on the day from 10:30am at TyneMet College.
Bookings are now available for the upcoming year 7 IAG Evening which will take place on Tuesday October 1st 2019, from 4:00pm until 7:00pm. The booking system will close at 1:30pm on Tuesday 1st October 2019.
A guide is available to help you to make bookings here or at the bottom of this page, and a direct link to the Parents’ Evening System is here.
In addition to this appointment, you are invited to attend a 10 minute presentation led by Mr Morgan and Ms McGovern (Assistant Headteacher for Curriculum and Achievement) about how we will communicate with you over the next five years about your child’s attendance, behaviour and achievement. They will take place on the hour and on the half hour with the first presentation at 4:30pm and the final one at 6:30pm. You are welcome to attend at the time most convenient to you without making a booking.
Mr Morgan will be available between these presentations if you having anything you wish to discuss, as will Ms Hall our AENCO (Additional Educational Needs Coordinator) and other members of the senior leadership team. In addition, Mr Orr, IT Manager, will be available to book for support with logging in to our School Gateway and Class Charts apps.
Thank you for your support in ensuring Year 7’s fantastic transition and start to the term. Their attendance has been above the national average and they have embraced the school’s core values of pride, respect and achievement by gaining a huge number of merits, making new friends and getting involved with extra-curricular activities.
If you are unable to log in, please ensure that you are using the email address that we have on record for you. If you have any questions or difficulty making a booking please contact ict-support@burnsidecollege.org.uk for assistance.
We look forward to seeing you.
Following our record breaking A level results last week we’re delighted to be celebrating our best ever GCSE results at Burnside.
The school has achieved its highest ever attainment 8 score, which is above the national average for all schools.
There are many success stories across all subjects, with students achieving a record number of grade 9 qualifications. We’re proud to celebrate our fantastic English results with 78% achieving grade 4 pass or above and 59% achieved the government’s strong pass of grade 5 or above, both figures are well above national averages. In maths the hard work of new curriculum leaders has already been rewarded with significant improvements at all grades and results approaching national averages.
We’re also delighted to see one of our students recognised by the exam board for having the best exam score in the country for business studies.
We look forward to continued success with our young people, at GCSE and at sixth form, in the new year.
