We took part in the regional Foreign Language Spelling Bee competition on Wednesday 29th April. The four students, Cole Besford 7R, Jenny Tosh 7E, Grace Kwok 7S and Jacob Walker 7D came top of their class competition, and also beat 16 other students in the school competition to get through to the regional final. They had one minute each to stand in front of representatives from many other schools in the North East, and a panel of French judges, to spell as many words as possible, using the French alphabet. They had learned 150 words in preparation for this, using lunch-time as a revision session as well as practicing at home. Unfortunately none of the students came in the top 4 of the 50 or so students who were in the regional final and so will not be going to the national final in Cambridge but they gave it a very good shot!
