The school is moving to a system that will allow students to pay and access their school meals account by having an image of their finger print scanned. The system proposed does this by scanning the students fingerprint and converting it into code. This means the student does not need to carry a card with them to pay for food and snacks. The technology proposed meets with the British Educational Communications and Technology Agency (BECTA) guidelines and allows students the option to opt out of the scheme and pay by using a pin number instead. This data cannot be given to anyone else and can only be used for the purpose specified; when a student leaves for school the data is deleted in line with the BECTA guidelines. Registrations begin on the 16th July so please return the letter posted out by the school giving your permission to scan your son or daughters finger print as soon as possible, or ask for a 4 digit PIN instead.  For more information please see the attached document.
