Lee Casey, TICE Mentor, was in school to support students in Y12 and Y13 BTEC Business through their ‘Insight Stage’ of the programme. This cohort are working on the creative enterprise programme which is aimed at young people who are thinking of pursuing a career within the creative and digital industries. This allows students to gain an understanding about the variety of digital and creative industries there are, and the type of jobs in these sectors.
During the day students were developing their own teamwork skills through a balloon challenge, exploring the creative industries and routes into higher education, as well as developing skills in generating and presenting business ideas through a business pitch. The students had some fantastic ideas about their own apps linking to different areas of the creative sectors.
The next step for the programme will involve the ‘Explore Stage’ where students will spend two days in industry, which will be tailored towards their own professional development in the various creative sectors.
