Some of our Year 10 Textiles students have been working hard this year towards their ‘This Is Creative Enterprise’ award, starting the first day of the Create Stage at Sunderland University this week.

Students started the day finding out about their project; coming up with creative fashion designs for Pier 74, a local company based at the Mushroom Works in the Ouseburn Valley. Pier 74 create new products by reusing denim, tweed and leather fabrics which would have been otherwise destined for landfill. The students were tasked with creating a range of denim dungarees using reclaimed fabric.

It was a fantastic day for the students involved, allowing them to be creative and giving them insight in to the different career opportunities available to them within the creative industries.
