On Wednesday night Burnside secured their first league victory over Marden High.
Burnside dominated the game, leading 3-0 at half time. Goals came from Callum Dawson, Eugene Rutherford, Stephen Tideswell, Rhys Durrant and Cameron Johnson.
From the start, Burnside looked like a much more organised side, with Wilson and O’Donnell holding the midfield well and patiently carving through the opposition. Callum Dawson needed little invitation to have a pop at the onrushing goalkeeper and often sprung the offside trap to get in behind Marden, even managing an audacious chip over the keeper from close range. Durrant opened up in the second half and unleashed a thunderbolt in off the far post. The tenacity of Burnside left Marden under the cosh throughout and the result was a fair reflection of the performance.
Next league game is Longbenton away.
