Dear Parent/Carer,

Following from the letter sent last week, and the responses via the google form, we are able to confirm a Progression / IAG Day for Year 11 students and parents on Tuesday 7th July, from 10:00am – 5:00pm.

We appreciate that many students are unsurprisingly feeling a bit unsure and would like to have a face to face conversation with someone about their options. This event is simply to give them a chance to speak to someone in person about their plans or options for next year.

If you would like to attend, please sign up to book a meeting with any of the providers you would like to speak to. Each appointment can be booked for up to 30 minutes with the chosen provider to allow for a worthwhile conversation.

We have the following people confirmed who will be present on the day:

Mr Hedley – Burnside Sixth Form
Mr Lowton – general IAG concerns/questions
Connexions staff – general IAG concerns/questions
Newcastle College
TyneMet College
Kirkley Hall

Students might have questions for the colleges about how they will enrol or what study will look like next year in light of coronavirus. They might want to discuss option choices for sixth form, or maybe just get some general advice and guidance about apprenticeships or post 16 options from Connexions. No question is too small! In previous years, students would have been able to ask these questions on a daily basis over the last few months in school, and we are aware that they have missed this opportunity so we wanted to offer them that chance before the summer break.

We have completed a complex risk assessment and safety is central to decision making around the organisation and we will ensure appropriate social distancing. If you have any concerns or queries please do not hesitate to get in touch with Mr Hedley (w.hedley@burnsidecollege.org.uk).

A guide is available to help you to make bookings here or at the bottom of this page, and a direct link to the Parentsā€™ Evening System is here.

If you are unable to log in, please ensure that you are using the email address that we have on record for you. If you have any questions or difficulty making a booking please contact ict-support@burnsidecollege.org.uk for assistance.

Kind Regards

Mr Hedley
